Selling Our Dream Home
Growing up Troy fished every summer in Montana. Fly fishing on the various rivers and in lakes all over the state was something that connected him to a long family tradtion of a love for fishing. When our daughter Madison was two we decided to take her to Montana for a trip to Bozeman and Yellowstone. It was a wonderful opportunity for Troy to show us around a part of his home state that we hadn’t been to and also to reaquaint himself with fly fishing. When we got back to Washington he quickly realized that fly fishing wasn’t going to be a part of his Pacific Northwest lifestyle. And so began his obession with salmon fishing. Not long after this obsession began, he started talking about getting land on a salmon bearing river, like the Wallace in Gold Bar. We would go out to the hatchery to visit the fish, check out houses along this gorgeous river, and dream of living there.
Fast forward 7 years to now, he is literally selling his dream home. A gorgeous farmhouse on property on the Wallace River. Check out this video of the property.
It’s interesting to look back at the journey and realize that your dreams are realized in different ways. We have gorgeous land with incredible views. It isn’t on the Wallace River, but we are close enough to fishing to feed the obession. Sometimes it’s a little too easy to see what others have and discount what you have as not enough. In our family a few years ago we created a dream board. Some of the things were simple. Some were a bit more lofty. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to reevaluate our priorities and create family goals. Some of the things that we thought were important enough to be on the dream board, didn’t make the board. Like living on a salmon spawning river. We have gotten to see so many of those goals come to fruitation. And to a level beyond our expectations. Troy and I were both raised to believe in hard work and a little bit of luck and anything is possible! Never give up on your dreams. Allow them to grow and change, of course, but never give up.
